Uhm, correct if I'm wrong, but isn't Alcatraz a Federal Historical site? And if that's so, wouldn't California have no control over what is done with it? And if that's the case, wouldn't the vote be, I don't know, nothing more than a worthless feel good vote?

We should tear down the prison. Then immediately build ANOTHER ONE on it spot. Bigger, meaner, more secure than any prison on EARTH and put all the terrorist in it. We can even make it GREEN! How's that for screwing with the Hippies? We'll tear down that old nasty carbon based prison and build a fancy big new prison but this one will be GREEN! That ought to lift the spirits of the Bay Area idiots. Think of all the energy that we can liberate from stinking whining Hippies! Instead of flush toilets we can just have piss drains.
