Gravatar Hi Wyld.

Well I am not so sure... there are lots of "Blue Dog" Democrats who are not so much aligned with the party ways. I know as I live in the district of one of the Blue Dogs of Congress.

I did not come here to fight with you as I have too much respect for you. That said, even if I could live with a McCain presidency, I could not live with a Palin presidency. She is the deal breaker for me.

I realize you may see otherwise and as this is your blog, I merely leave my words and my good wishes for you.

We all have to act according to our conscience. And if one does that- well then that is it. So many vote without the proper thought and reasoning... on both sides. They just vote. Sad.

Gravatar I think I will make an informed decision, although different than yours.

However, I respect your opinion and your decision, and your reasoned defense of it.

Gravatar I will have to agree to disagree with you on this.

Democrats are Americans too and we have different opinions on some things, but that doesn't mean we are traitors or looking to end the American way.

Plus look at the options we were presented with to choose from this time around. I may not choose McCain, but Palin sealed the deal on my choice. She's not ready to be a heartbeat from the Presidency.

With that said I respect you opinion and certainly your service to the Country. Take it easy Wyld

Gravatar We are very vulnerable right now. The massive FAIL in our economic infrastructure (and global reprecussions) for one thing makes me fear that we're already setting ourselves up for "our enemies [to] take this time to do us harm."
I hope and pray that that is not the case.

Gravatar Oh boy Wyldth1ng, you sure hit a hot button there! Actually, the 60 votes is what is needed to override a presidential veto and prevent a filibuster. The majority in the House and Senate are chairmen of the Committees. This is why many bills do make it to the floor of the Senate for an up and down vote. This is one of the main reasons nothing gets done in Washington D.C. The Democrats were in the majority for over 60 years in both Houses, until 1994 when the Republicans took over the House and Senate with the "Contract With America" promise led by House Speaker Newt Gingrich. President Clinton was still in office for another six (6)years, so it still caused a stalemate in Washington D.C. The Republicans were in the Huse were majority until 2006. The Senate is even, because lately Joe Lieberman tends to lean a little more to the Republican side. We will see on November 4, 2008, if things change. Even if you have 60 votes, you still need the House of Representatives to close the deal.

Regarding the responses you are getting from your electronic journal readers, it shows how much respect they have for you by gingerly disagreeing with you, hoping not to offend you. It really wouldn't matter who was running for President and Vice President because most of the decisions that a voter will make is based on the morals and values they were raised on and impressed upon as they became adults. Their views are also affected by their religious and educational background. The discussion of politics is usually for the sake of argument, if the other person has already made up their mind.

My faith tells me that God controls everything in this world. I do not question why God allows things to happen as they do. Instead I try to understand what I am doing in my life that would make God allow these things to happen. The winner in the next Presidential Election will be the answer God has for the bitterness, anger and discontent that people are expressing. I will accept his answer with joy in my heart. Finally, my faith reminds me that the pains of the past will be lost, and the joys of the future are still yet to be won. So do not worry because the cares of tomorrow can wait until this day is done!

Gravatar good post. good thoughtful post and actually i couldn't agree with you more!

Gravatar "Regarding the responses you are getting from your electronic journal readers, it shows how much respect they have for you by gingerly disagreeing with you, hoping not to offend you"

How true is that. I can only speak for myself - I have tremendous respect and admiration for you Wyld and have worried about my stupid comment ever since I post it. Even if it is what I think.

Deep sigh.

Gravatar I agree to disagree, but respect your right to your analysis of the issues.

Gravatar even in the early 90s, when Clinton had the Presidency and the Democrats were in power, he did not get everything he wanted. We will be praying that the civil war does not happen no matter who gets elected.... the election cycle has been terribly divisive on all sides, and no matter who wins, there will be a lot of anger.

I do respect your fears; I have some of my own.

The Roman empire fell because of corruption on the inside rather than on the outside.

We'll all be praying...

Gravatar A civil war...really? A bit dramatic don't you think?
I appreciate the expression of how you would prefer things to go.
What is so wrong with the Democrats being a runaway train anyway?

he he he...
