I remember seeing Empire in the theater. Obviously, I was young, but my initial reaction was - He's lying. Darth Vader's just playin' with Luke... right? I was 100% convinced that it was not true and would not believe it until Jedi came out a few years later.
We probably saw the movie together, I don't remember. I know I saw it at the Westminster Mall theater, but not much other than that. Every once in a while I catch emotions from rewatching it that I must have felt at the time. Dread at the AT-ATs, the helplessness at Luke hanging under Bespin, confusion about what happened on Degobah and the Vader vision.
