I agree that the Turks (or just some of their politicians) are only making loud noises.

IMO there are two _separate_ questions about Kirkuk: who lives in the houses, and who owns the oil.

I think both can be settled by negotiation. The housing problem could be much helped if a large number of good new houses were built for those who have been displaced. They should be high quality houses, better than the ones that were taken.

There is plenty of oil money to pay for big housing projects and new towns, once the terrorists stop blowing up pipelines.

As to who owns the oil, there is plenty for both the Arabs and the Kurds. You just need to have a good haggle over where the money gets spent. No need to fight over it. The North Sea oil in Britain was mostly found near Scotland, but there was no war between Scotland and England over it.
