Speaking as a UK citizen who was reared as a Protestant, I can assure you that none of us had ever heard of the Kurds until recently.
I have no objection at all to their having an independent state, except that it could risk an invasion by the Turks and Persians. The Poles got independence, why not the Kurds?
What has "Protestant" to do with it?
The english must have heard of the Kurds and to be more precise Sulaimaniya, as they attacked it in 1924
