I'm originally from Chicago, but I now live in western Washington State about halfway between Seattle and Portland, Oregon.
I was born in Scotland(with a strong mix of Irish in the blood) but now live in Germany.I have worked in the US and Africa.

Grew up in then-shrinking imperial metropole, Britain. Spent time in former target of (French) empire, Lebanon. Came to "New world" (US) and was amazed to find the terms/ideas "colonial", "white man's burden", etc taken quite seriously here.
New world? Feels much more like the 19th century to me.
I was born in The Netherlands, but I left that sweet country for love and children. I have been in the States for 19 years. I go back as much as I can, usually once or twice a year. The internet, and especially interent radio, has been a blessing for me. Not too many people speak Dutch in this country.........
In the past 19 years Holland has lost its currency for that awful Euro, its sovereignty for that awful behemoth the EU, and its innocence after the murder of Pim Fortuin. There is a lot of anger in Western Europe......... I wonder who will use this anger and take power?

Upstate New York (and that does not mean Weschester County!) between Rochester and Syracuse. As a Navy family we've lived in all parts of the US - north, south, east and west - and now make our home in Cairo.
Connecticut, mostly. But I've lived in Ohio, North Carolina, Ontario, Saskatchewan, Alberta and now Oregon.
Been in southern farm country MN since 1993 with a few forays to Ohio.
Army brat. Lived DC and NC then moved to WA. Dad retired out of Ft. Lewis and I grew up in WA. Never wanted to leave it. Folks split up and went with dad to MN, then back to mom's in Seattle, then with mom to Los Angeles. Hated L.A. but love the Japanese food in Gardena. Now in MN with my dad and my family.
Tried to get a city planner job in Bonney Lake, WA last summer. Didn't get it. Still love WA even though it's changed a lot in the last 10 years. Someday I hope to return there. I miss the green, the mountains, the Sound, and Pike Place Market.
I'm an American in Canada. Just moved from Montreal to the Toronto area.

I grew up in heartland of US (Indiana and Wisconsin) or the Great Lakes region. Migrated to Northeast to enroll in school for several years; lived in Connecticut and then moved to New York City. Landed job at World Trade Center and then my life changed forever on 9-11-01; fortunately, the experience of a major disaster or violent tradegy has been increasingly positive in terms of a perspective of life individually and globally. However, the process of survival has been painful and grueling; thus, invading Iraq opens the wounds larger and I find myself grieving all over again and feeling saddness and shame.
