Don't Be An Asshole

Gravatar The big news in all the papers these days is how "violence is down sharply in Iraq." The only reason it appears that way is because they don't report it. They'll mention the one big incident in a given day, and ignore the rest. They also frequently ignore deaths of U.S. personnel now. So of course people have the impression that Iraq is comparatively quiet.

Just counting the incidents we manage to find here, I don't see it. It just isn't true.

Gravatar Yeah, I tend to agree.

Gravatar I'm posting this on top now:

The U.S. military says three American Marines and two interpreters have been killed in an attack west of Baghdad in Anbar province.

BAGHDAD - A suicide bomber attacked a meeting of pro-government Sunni sheiks west of Baghdad on Thursday, killing at least 23 people, including three U.S. Marines. At least 18 more people died in a car bombing in the northern city of Mosul

Gravatar Thanks, whisker.

Gravatar I wonder how long it will take for the media narrative about Iraq to change? Or are they going to try to keep pretending that the war is over and We Won right through November?

Gravatar Yep I believe you coined it correctly.

Gravatar As I have said before, when they report on the level of violence, they NEVER talk about the amount and magnitude of violence being committed every day by the American forces - or at least they do not report it as violence.
