burley cc has such a wonderful set up. It is a shame to hear about all the bad things that seem to be taking place there at the moment. would it be such a bad thing for everyone to stop being so petty and just get on with the wonderful game that is cricket. i think that Richard Brook is the right man for the job, he has a loud yobbish voice! but isn't that what you need to give your team the kick up the backside that they need!!!
richard brook should not be captain he is an ignorant loud nouth yob who can stab you in the back as soon as look at you. he is a good enough wicket keeper but he cant bat for shit and his on feild antics and the way he presents his self are discusting. the only good thing about this season is the long awaited come back of Lee (the burley viking) Davey. who for many years has been a cricketing legend down at burley cc.being by far the best all rounder burley has ever produced he is a all round crowd pleaser on and off the feild and some what a bit of a ladys man,he has not played for a while due to a horific back injury caused by a nasty trip but we are all pleased to hear that this year he has asured us I`LL BE BACK.

I don't regret anything I wrote in August, the team performed brilliantly all season, but behaved in a petty and vindictive manner after being promoted.

its not a case of being brave its a case of you dont need to know.but you will find out next time your down at cricket. you shouldnt write letters about stuff you know nothing of first hand about , you have only had one side of it off a very bitter bw, its as simple as this if you knew dick harrison you would know that due to his lack of comunication he is not captain material
Fine, I've no real problem with having the captain replaced, it was the manner in which it was done I was writing about.
Why couldn't the question of the captaincy have been brought up after the end of the season ? At a proper team meeting ? Why was it done in such a manner ?
Come on, I think club members such as myself, whether playing, social or sponsors, have a right to ask questions like these and to receive a decent response, not veiled threats from anonymous players/committee members.
I'm wondering how this season's sponsorship letter is going to start...."Dear Mike, despite members of the team threatening you, we would still like you to turn over some of your hard earned money to support Burley CC....."
I had not intended to take part in this internet vitriol but since I have been referred to more directly I feel obliged to so do.
Apparently I am very bitter. The author/s seem to know me better out of season and without the benefit of conversation to know my mood!
I am angry and with just cause. I think anyone who has invested time, effort and enterprise to promote Burley CC firstly as a 'beacon club, and then to become a 'focus club' and be invited as one of only twenty three clubs in Yorkshire to gain assets from the ECB through the CCDF initiative and see this funding seriously at risk through the actions or omissions of others should feel some anger.
Even the comments by previous authors put the club in poor light and if read by senior officers of the ECB again jeapordise our application for Clubmark and with it our grant.
If you truly value our club you should be far more adult in your correspondence and actions.
