Gravatar Overall impression? I love/need enough detail to be able to form a clear mental image of characters, scenery, etc. and you've certainly provided that. I also like being able to get inside the heads of characters and you've covered that, too. The suspense factor also there in a big way. Not only do I really want to know what happens next, but I'm also dying to know what came before! A spider-like creature as the baddie is a good choice for me personally as I loathe them. Not to the point of leaping on top of furniture and shrieking my lungs out if I see one, but they give me the creeps because of the way they move. Shudder. But I'm sure that this is why you chose that kind of character - arachnophobia is really common and what better to freak out a large reading audience? I've never bothered with sci.fi. or fantasy as reading choices due to a prejudice acquired many years ago, but your writing is starting to convert me, you know.
