Gravatar loath as i am to stand up for tony b liar...

i'm not sure what relevance "mad" martin mc's comments have. last time i checked, mart was a member of sinn fein which is the highest vote getter in the nationalist movement - and not a member of the labour party.

i think lil' tone condemned cheap electoneering by "something of the night" howard re hospitals and waiting lists. a case of pot calling kettle black.

i don't recall tony telling the church to shut up - are you thinking of the "debate" on abortion? if so, you'll probably know that, as a good crypto-catholic, tone does not support abortion. but, like every politician realises that this is not a party political issue. whether individuals, based on religious or moral grounds, vote based on a candidates stance on abortion (or any other single issue) is a matter between themselves and their conscience (or god(s)).

Gravatar To be fair to YS, he did not claim that nasty Martin McGuiness has anything to do with the labout party - all he said was that political leaders, of whom McGuiness is one, seem currently to be trying to prevent others involving themselves in political issues. And I am amused by the mantra that Michael Howard is undertaking cheap electioneering - he is acting as Leader of the Opposition and seizing every opportunity to criticise this appalling government. And if that's opportunistic, so be it, but that's what Leaders of the Opposition are for - dislike Howard if you will, but that is nothing to do with his doing his job.

Gravatar I could have included remarks made by other political bigwigs as well, they all want people to vote, just not to criticise.

I mentioned churches/religion and Blair's Labour because every time one of the churches takes a stance against the government, as they have done so over the past few years on poverty and the Iraq war, then the government tries to shoo them away and claim they are getting above their station.

I'm highly amused, in the blackest sense, by Adams and McGuinness' situation at the moment. They've made political gain for years on the spilled blood of others, and now it might just bring them down.

I see our dear friends the Yanks have once again pulled the plug on fundraising for Sinn Fein/IRA, never too late to wash the blood off your hands eh ?

Gravatar I don't know why any government on these islands wants to give McGuinness and his cronies so much as the time of day.
