All of this is beyond my ability to comprehend. We've never seen anything like this in our lifetime, and I sure as hell hope we never do again. You know, if nearly our entire military weren't jacked up on the other side of the world, we would have considerably more manpower to deal with this.
You're so right, Shane, but it's much worse than that. Eschaton, Kos, This Modern World, and others are covering the political situation nicely: among other Bush incompetencies, his chosen head of FEMA has absolutely no experience in disaster response management--his previous field was estate planning law, which is a far cry from Clinton's FEMA chief, who previously had a similar job for Arkansas. My only hope for a silver lining in all this is that there is now no possible way for any honest American to ignore how awful Republican rule has been.
