Gravatar you say ... 'I don't think my buddy was trying to muddy the debate himself, he's simply reflecting what he's read, which is decidedly screwed up when you really dig into it.'

no, read krugman's column, you're buddy is a liar, a con. either you (and al gore) begin to admit it, or you (and the rest of us) are going to get steamrolled. read the f'king article.

Gravatar Pretty harsh, geoff. And, obviously, I did read the article. Look, my pal genuinely believes that what he's saying is true: that's not lying; it's being misled. It's the executives in the oil companies, the ones who establish these disinformation groups, and their cynical political allies who know better but don't care. Then there are the conservative faithful who have a pre-existing bias toward trusting the elites in power and they're just dupes. Dangerous dupes, to be sure, but dupes nonetheless. Calling them liars to their faces is going to be beyond counterproductive in terms of dispelling propagandistic mythology. Besides, this guy's my friend; I know him and you don't. What's with your lecturing attitude, anyway? It's Stalinists like you who killed the left in the 60s.

Begone!
