Amazing... Since 1948, the very next day after Israel became a country, they have been under attack from the Arabs time and time again. And in your view Israel is at fault. Amazing...

Well, actually my view is somewhat more complicated than that, and it's fleshed out a bit more here. But here's the short version. Yes, Israel has indeed been attacked repeatedly, but any imminent military threat to Israel's existence disappeared long ago. Today, they're the regional super-power, complete with a large arsenal of nukes. All that's left is the threat of terrorism, which is singularly about the Palestinian problem. In the early 70s, Israel essentially decided to ghettoize the occupied territories, and treat the people there, as Moche Dayan once said, "like dogs," in hopes that they would just up and leave. Every peace agreement since them has been a sham from the Israeli point of view: they don't want peace with Palestine; they want them the hell out. So the people in what amount to shitty permanent refugee camps are just festering in sewage and blood. It is absoultely no surprise that they resist, and that they have many sympathizers in the Arab world. Israel could do things differently, more humanely, more morally, but doesn't. Whenever the Intifada heats up, they just send in the tanks.
I'm not surprised that you're amazed by my position, because none of this makes it into the US mainstream news. It's actually weird, the almost religious level of support that Israel gets from the vast majority of Americans, no matter what atrocities they commit. But then, most Americans have no idea how vile the Israeli government is.
Bottom line: Hezbollah sucks; Israel really sucks. And, because they receive billions yearly in military support from the US, our tax dollars, we share responsibility for their crimes.
