Well, I was just being clever. But really, the President may yet prevail. Sixty House Democrats have signed a pledge to vote "no" to any bill that doesn't have a public option. And the arcane Senate process known as "reconciliation," which could get the bill passed with a simple 51 vote majority, may make Senate Blue Dogs a moot point. Obama's just got to give up on "unity" for the moment, so he can push "change."
On a related note, why aren't the Democrats railing away on how Senate Republicans are threatening a filibuster? All they talk about is how they need to get sixty votes, without playing the same strategy the GOP did over judicial nominees.
