I just love the quote, "...some of his top advisers intervened to protect him from himself." Genius... that is a quality I look for in a leader... and a pop idol.
I actually think that McCain's people spun the story fast enough to turn it into an issue for the New York Times. Why wait so long? Why now? Was it a calculated attempt to derail McCain's campaign?
And there isn't enough sex for it to be a sex scandal, and who cares about impropriety.
Also, hi.

Well, so far it's not working out as I predicted. But then, it's only about 24 hours at this point since the story broke. At any rate, it's probably worse, because the right-wing radio idiots who hate McCain are now defending him against the "liberal" New York Times. This may be backfiring if it really is a press smear job. However, I did see at least one AP headline today emphasizing the sex over the corruption:
McCain denies romantic relationship with lobbyist

5557809.html
I will say this: I think, even if the story is true, that the Times really is trying to smear McCain; they could have deemphasized the adultery angle, without losing any of the corruption stuff, but didn't. That says smear job to me, but in the post Clinton era, maybe that's just what they think political reporting is supposed to be about, big erect penises.
Hi, Tara, it's great to hear from you!
