Sending a Trackback Ping

First, please read the Trackback FAQ for information on what Trackback is and what it's meant to do. As mentioned in that FAQ, the beginner's guide to Trackback gives more information on how it works. The following instructions will also be highly based on that how-to except it will be more HaloScan-centric.

To send a Trackback ping:

1. For the post you want to link to, find and copy the TrackBack Ping URL.
2. On the main HaloScan site, from the menu on the left, select Manage Trackback.
3. Select the Send a Trackback Ping tab, in the centre of the page.
4. Enter your Blog Name, the Permalink URL (for the post on your site), the Post Title (for your post), and Your Excerpt from your post.
5. Paste the TrackBack Ping URL into the URLs to Ping field. You can also ping multiple weblog posts at the same time (up to 5 at a time) by pasting each trackback ping URL on a line by itself in the textbox.
6. Click the Ping Now.

If your Trackback ping was not sent correctly, a listing of problems and possible solutions will be displayed.
If successful you will be able to see the Trackback ping you sent in the trackback link of post to which you wanted to link.


Notes
The trackback feature will be improved so some of the steps listed above may not be necessary in the future.
