I saw this book while I was in Japan, and it's lovely. It's similar to the fanbooks like the recently published xxxHolic fan book, filled with character profiles, favorite scenes, sketches and background info about the story. well worth picking up if you can read a bit of japanese (it's a bit more text-heavy than your average manga).

Thanks for linking to that! How'd you ever know that I would enjoy a video focusing on Tite Kubo? ;)

I think I enjoyed part 1 even more with the mini-tour of Kubo's pad. (Love the hat and shoe racks as you come in.) But the breakout star of both videos has to be... PIRATE HITLER!

Wow, that video is downright hypnotic. I've never really understood what goes into the screentoning process, so that was interesting, and kind of strange in a way. I love videos like that and seeing the amazing ease with which they do it.
Though not as elaborate, I think you'd appreciate this video of Tite Kubo coloring: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wx6NSVHyU0A
It starts around the 50 second

I bet it's a moving story of a poor ornithologist trying to make ends meet by purchasing too-small clothing from a thrift shop. Yeah, that's it!

Thanks for the concern! Nothing interesting, just the usual story of real world stuff eating up formerly free time. I think what really killed my blogging momentum was going on vacation for 10 days and never quite catching up on my feed reading. I hear there was some news about Marvel several weeks ago...?

Surely it's impossible to compare Western comics and Manga in such a way anyway, since the purpose is so different.
But the most hilarious bit is the outselling of regular manga. Surely that's like saying... (ranomness warning) sometimes apples outsell regular fruit (and in an article about shoes). As if apples... I mean shojo is some sort of freaky phenomenon.
That made less than no sense, didn...
